We officially began our new school year here at St. Cecilia’s last Tuesday. Enrollment is good — we have a total of 295 students from Pre-K thru 8. The students, the faculty and staff are all geared up for another exciting, fun and productive year. Let’s keep them in our prayers so that our students not only continue to hone their minds, but also their hearts, deepening their knowledge of themselves and of God, thus bringing them into a profounder relationship with God.
Last Saturday, in our Vigil Mass presided by Archbishop Sample, we welcomed senior priests, seminarians and other priests involved in the seminary formation. As usual, the Vocation Committee of our parish, led by Tom Eyer, outdid themselves in putting together the events for that evening. A profound gratitude to the committee and to all the other groups, like the Men’s Club and Knights of Columbus, that made the evening quite special.
Our faith formation groups are having their registration drive this weekend. Faith formation classes across age groups will start in two weeks, though RCIA classes officially begin this weekend. Stay tuned for our adult education offerings for this year — most of them will be led by Father Mark and myself.
Our parish center was brushed up recently. Thanks to Jose Barrientos and his crew who repainted our parish center for free. They did a wonderful job (well, they are all professional painters!). We are deeply grateful for their service to our community. We are still waiting for the contractor to finish up the installation of the new HVAC system in the parish center. They told us that it should be done by the end of the month. Also, our parking lots have been repainted — the parish and the school split the cost of the repainting. It looks so much better now! – Fr. Cary
